Seeking 10 Again . . .

Four hours past Ideal Time. I am once again trying to get into bed by 10, so I'll keep this short. I still missed getting a appointment for my ear infection (see yesterday).

Ho Hum . . .

Seven hours past Ideal Time, yet I still like the progress, specially since today was a shower-shave day . . .

Oh yeah, catch-up day, in a catch-up week; I still hope to set an appointment at the Valley Clinic for the ear infection. Yes, the ear infection persists; considering I had one seven months ago, I'm beginning to suspect it might be chronic.

. . . and I Feel Fine! (ish)

Back from the weekend in Vegas, with the hot soaking, the long sleep in the dark room, and the ultra-fine food from The Garden of the Dragon. As late as I am today, seven and a half hours past Ideal Time (out of the shower at 8 AM), I still like how I feel!

To boot, I had to do laundry today . . .

Anyway, tomorrow will definitely be a catch-up day.

Done!; also, My Comic Reading . . .

Finally woke up before the alarm! (4:51 AM) Still, grogginess and not being used to doing this in a while led to one hour and 40 minutes past ideal time . . . skipping a shower. No matter, of course, I finally got myself some time, and have used it! Kind of tempered from this being a Brain Age day. Most importantly, I'm set up well for tomorrow!

I *Will* Do it . . .

Cut to three and a half hours past Ideal Time, yet I'm still here just now. It doesn't matter, I will be in bed by ten, I will get a full night's sleep, and I will get up early tomorrow and have a full day!

Finally went to the bank for that much-needed deposit; what a surprise, I also went to the supermarket, and the one thing I was looking for. It's really been that kind of day, but describing every small detail would take too long; the little things really do kill, I figure days like this have shortened my life by at least a couple of years.

Anyway, to make it quick . . . again . . . here are my most recent Usenet Posts . . .:

Oh well . . .

Four hours and twenty minutes past Ideal time, this skipping a shower; I'm still looking forward to enough time to floss again. I'm still surprisingly upbeat, even thinking I might get to bed early tonight. That ear infection's still gonna be a problem; my harsh treatment seems to be helping, though; hopefully there won't be permanent damage . . . or at least much . . .

Once again, I'll have to cut off quickly . . .

Gettin' There . . .

Four and a half hours past Ideal Time (that being getting out of the shower, or what would be a shower, by 8 AM), yet I still feel good about this week. Or at least felt good; things too a little too long today, yet I still hope to make tomorrow a good one.

It's official, we got Vegas this weekend! For all the fun that sounds, I just look forward to sleeping all day in that dark hotel room, in that ridiculously comfortable bed, or soaking in the bathtub in a hot
Epsom Salt mix.

Anyway, I'll try to make this quick . . .

Surprisingly Good . . .

Well, it seems my ears were itching for a reason, I do indeed have an infection; I also got up late yet again on a Sunday Breakfast Out Day. Still, in all this heat, I'm sure I can get to bed by 10.

This is like the ear infection from last October, which I'm starting to suspect is somehow more permanent than I'd hope. Ear infections are such a bother because of how they interconnect with the rest of the head; by nerve it's connected to the brain, leading to headaches and lapsed judgment; by sinus passages it's connected to the eyes, nose, and throat, leading to overall discomfort; by bone it's connected to the jaw, leading to pain in the mouth and teeth, quite unpleasant when eating. Depending on how I am tomorrow, I'll see about making a visit to the clinic. I really don't have time for this . . .

On a lighter note, here's a bit of dumb fun . . .:

Relief?

Certainly not from the heat; "only" three and a half hours past Ideal time.

Finally talked to family in Peru after quite a while (hola!), by good old phone; while there is the occasional e-mail we exchange, it seems technical problems have rendered that inconsistent. I'll admit I've been derelict in responses at times, but many times I just don't get anything, or my e-mails fail to go through. Well, that's what moments like today are for, I guess. Anyway, the occasion was Uncle Jose and Aunt Nela's birthday (twins).

37 push-ups.

A lot of time was take by a Usenet post to my oldest newsgroup (rec.arts.comics.strips); just the link, not the full post. Oh yeah, I post in newsgroups a lot; I might post links to those here more once in a while; the actual posts either wouldn't work in context, or are just too much space.

A little Better

4 and a half hours past Ideal Time, even with a shower-and-shave; though it's a Brain Age day, I'm still surprisingly confident.

Hot day, very hot day; well, at least for SoCal. That was at least part of why I was out of it for Brain Age, the steady 20s of the past weeks have given way to a dreaded 26. Oh well.

In all that happened this week, Keith Olbermann is still The Man; California further catches up with the civilized world; and on a lighter note, there are things that are best not explained, just enjoyed . . .:

Five and a half hours past Ideal Time on a day I was aiming for four hours; still, not much to today, so it's all good, I guess. Maybe tomorrow will be much better, though it's both a shower-and-shave day (shower a must), and a Brain Age day . . .

Ouch . . .

Wow, seven hours past Ideal Time; I really stayed up late last night, and that led to major sleep this morning.

I hope to be in bed within the hour, so I'll keep this short; the obvious, of course, is I prefer to go to sleep early so as to wake up early, sleep being so critical to proper health.
- I'll start with the first thing on my mind.
- I'll proceed (time pending) to what I saw on television, basically my TV protocol for the day.
- Then comes (time pending) what ever is left on my mind.

Mother's Day '08 . . .

Yup, the big Mother's Day Brunch, five hours used up going, staying, coming back. A bit somber, as this might be the last time my grandmother gets to enjoy this alive. Grandma Cita has been battling leukemia for the last year and a half, and shows signs of having suffered a stroke. At 99 years of age, she's lived a great, long life, still; the hope is she'll make it to 100 this November . . .

Am currently watching TNA Sacrifice . . .

All this, and it's Sunday, thus Laundry Day, to boot; I find myself having to end this right now, so that's that . . .

Speed Tripper . . .

Three and a half hours past Ideal Time, a lot of delays, yet I managed to make for a productive viewing of Speed Racer; for all the bad reviews, I ended up liking this trip of a movie! It's almost too appropriate that Albert Hoffmann died this week, as this movie provides for a trip (as I've heard/seen them described), without the need for LSD; all this and I managed to get a Quizno's sub!

Time has gone way too quickly, so I'll end this right now . . .

Good(ish) Day!

A pretty good start today, at least compared to the last few days; "only" 2:40 past Ideal Time, and not much to get in the way, other than being a Brain Age day . . .

Yes, I play Brain Age on Thursdays, a little attempt to keep my brain from wasting too much in my aging body . . .

Well about time I mentioned Charlotte; about eight years old now, she's great company. As with most cats, I'm not really her owner, so much as she's my owner.

She's quite the hunter, and went through a rather harrowing experience this Fall. More on both of those eventually.

My DVR is my time/lifesaver when it comes to watching TV. I forsook Tivo for a ReplayTV box; with that hard drive I ordered through eBay I get 160 hours at medium quality (my preferred setting), from the previous 40 hours. Of course, most of that is divided into "History" (recs from The History Channel) and "Movies." (from TCM). Of course, I also have the box provided by my cable company for supplemental duties; its ability to record programs simultaneously, and record extended/premium cable channels comes in handy, but it's still a hassle.

Today I'm set to record (or recorded):
- The first re-airing of last night's Daily Show/Colbert Show combo
- Countdown w/Keith Olbermann
- NBC Nightly News
- Access Hollywood (as an alphabetic anchor)
- Jeopardy
- X-Play
- Attack of the Show
- CSI
- Smallville
- Lost
- My Name is Earl
- 30 Rock
- Scrubs
- Baseball Tonight
- Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
- George of the Jungle
-
The Daily Show
- Late Show w/David Letterman
- Late Night w/Conan O'Brian
- W.I.T.C.H.

I saw (or plan to see):
- Last night's Daily Show
- Today's first re-airing of last night's Daily Show/Colbert Show
- W.I.T.C.H. (repeat just to FF, I still like the show design)
- The Simpsons (this Sunday)
- King of the Hill (same)
- Family Guy (same)
- American Dad (same)
- Everybody Hates Chris (4-27)
- Aliens in America (same)
-
Mythbusters (last night, turned out I had seen it, as I suspected)
-
Lewis Black's Root of All Evil (same)
- NBC Nightly News
- Late Night w/Conan O'Brian (5-6, maybe 5-7 and 5-8)
- Late Show w/David Letterman (5-5, maybe 5-6 and 5-7)
- Jeopardy
- Attack of the Show (4-28)

Yes, I am horribly behind in my recorded shows, not to mention my E-mailed comics, and my RSS feed (not as much). Well, enough good days, and maybe things will fall into place.

So, eventually I'll cover the comic strips I read (including many webcomics), the podcasts I listen to, and my radio habits.

That's quite a bit, and more than enough for now!

Still Late . . .

Another late start, four hours past Ideal Time, but that's with a shave-shower. Somehow, I still liked how fast things went today, even with the chiro appointment taking up an hour; a well-worth hour though, an excellent alignment!

Yes, I plant to post every day that's not Saturday, even if it's this minimal.

When I have time, I'll really get into the details of my life as it goes; what I can get to, anyway . . .

Another Late Start . . .

In spite of setting the alarm, I still had trouble this morning; my body was a set of stones I couldn't lift! In the end, I was four hours past Ideal Time, even cutting this morning's shower, which won't be an option tomorrow.

I also failed to mention; yesterday, the cable was out for a good part of the afternoon, throwing a wrench into my plans. I tried to compensate, but still ended up in bed past midnight, perhaps contributing to this morning's mess.

Being Tuesday, I had a nice couple of empanadas today.

Hopefully tomorrow will be "earlier," though the appointment with Dr. Friedman will cause the usual time problems; oh well, so long as my back remains healthy.

Maybe I'll cover my TV habits tomorrow or Thursday.

Anyway, 'til next time . . .

Slow Day . . .

Though I managed to get to bed around 10 last night (10:17), I still got up late today. Well, being Monday, I actually got up with my alarm at 4:18 to set my main computer's clock, and then the laptop, and then my PDA (if necessary), and then my clock-radio. After I got back to bed, I was out for quite a while, at least by my standards; the "setting time" was also under serious drowsiness. Anyway, I ended up 4 and a half hours past Ideal Time.

As it's getting late, I have to finish now.

Ironed (Man) Out . . .

Well, as far as movie days go, it had been a while, and it showed; I found out the Quizno's I planned to get "dinner" from had closed down; the price for a matinee has gone up to $11.50/Adult; and the AMC 16 are undergoing some kind of renovation (again).

As for the movie itself, Iron Man lived up to a lot of the hype. Alas, as much as my nerdy self wants to say that I loved it, I have to settle for "like." Yes, there were some great moments, and Robert Downey Jr. shined as Tony Stark, but . . . well, I don't know, it just didn't go the extra mile for me. Of course, I have to mention something pretty huge is revealed towards the end (after the credits, in fact), but I'm not the spoilering kind, so . . .

Oh, and I managed to make it about an hour and a half past Ideal Time; this while cutting this morning's shower; I should really try to avoid that, cleanliness being next to godliness and all. Seriously, I hate being dirty.

First Real Post . . .

Well, it seems the key to a good day is getting up on time, and now that I finally started setting my alarm again after those weeks of late nights, it's coming through! I value a good night's sleep highly, and fear of setting the alarm after all those late nights had left me getting up late too often, and concurrently going to sleep late. So, that's that.

The goal, of course, is to be out of the shower by 8:00 AM (let's call it, "Ideal Time"), which still doesn't bode well when a teaching job comes along . . . eventually . . . hopefully; anyway, I was out by 10:20 today, so that makes it a "2 hour late day," made worse by prescription pick-ups that needed to be done as well. Anyway, Iron Man tomorrow; unlike Harold and Kumar last week (missed), this one's a must.

Finally, happy May Day! For those who forgot, this is the true Labor Day, at least for most of the world. Though the US celebrates it on the first Monday of September, it's a great irony this country that won't celebrate it properly is the originator of May Day. To be exact, the Haymarket Affair of 1886. Just another historical tidbit, for what it's worth . . .

Anyway, 'til next time . . .

(pretty good for a true first post! I guess . . .)
