Well, the exact magnitude of yesterday's earthquake was confirmed to be 5.4; good bit closer to my 4 guess . . .

Another day where things just kept going wrong, but I managed to avoid letting it get to me. It all took a good bit longer, but it got done. Still more to get done; oh yeah, new shower-head, and it works wonderfully!

Six and a half hours past Ideal Time.

5.8 (later downgraded to 5.4, apparently); only in California do you just have to say "5.8," and people know exactly what you're talking about. Yes, after years of quiet, the Los Angeles area had a noticeable earthquake! I could have sworn it was a 4 pointer, maybe a 4.5, though that makes sense as the actual epicenter was to the south.

I can't get the original Gatchaman OP song out of my head; it all started with a screening of the mid-90's OVA at Anime Expo I caught, then that cosplay performance at Comic-Con's Masquerade, and the childhood memories they all brought back.

Comic-Con Week Begins!

Three hours past ideal time; feeling better, still knowing the grueling week coming, and the eventual recovery week to come . . .

I recall a saying, though this may not be the exact quote, "I'd rather float on an opportunity, that sink with my principles 'round my neck." I've taken pride in using money from my bank account, no matter how scrounged and scavenged, to fund my convention trips; at least since 2002. Now I'll be accepting a hotel reservation made for me by someone else. Well, so long as I go; a little more hard experience learning should mean I won't be making similar mistakes next year . . .

Six hours past Ideal Time. I know it's highly unlikely I'll be going to Comic-Con this year, though I'm still holding out hope for a last minute cancellation, yet I'm still looking at the big pile of programs that have backed up on my DVR, not to mention my countless backed up RSS Feeds. If I do get cleared for Comic Con, it'll be a messy lead-in, and one heck of a clean-up afterwards. Oh well . . .

Four and a half hours past Ideal Time. Other than a messy start with the laptop, things went fairly well today. Tomorrow should be a better day, but I don't dare be optimistic.

I also might as well say it: though I pre-registered last year, I still have no hotel reservations for Comic-Con. I was late the first time, I passed up some recent openings, and am still to hear about cancellations/opening from the waiting/stand-by list I'm in. Oh well . . .

Seven hours past Ideal Time. Just when I did not need, it I stay up too late, Charlotte goes crazy, I wake up feeling lousy, then things just screw up through and through. One of "those" days just had to come. I'll just say I'll be glad when tomorrow comes.

Monday, Bloody Monday . . .

Four hours and fifty minutes past Ideal Time (out of the shower by 8 AM); I was almost irreparably late for my medical appointment today . . . only to find out said appointment had been canceled by way of my sudden appointment Friday. Oh well, I guess I can wait until my next ear infection; at least I got that stool sample delivered . . .

As a fan of baseball, I can attest as to how tough it is to hit a home run, especially when watching Home Run Derby; the hitters in this year's performance seemed to be having a specially hard time, then came Josh Hamilton. While it proved limited to his first round performance, he gave a great example of what it means to be "locked in." A true sight to behold. Still, congrats to eventual winner Justin Morneau anyway . . .

Got up earlier than I expected today; still, not nearly enough time for breakfast outside, not that I could have handled it anyway.

Other big things today included the eventual collecting of a stool sample for Monday's medical appointment, another TNA PPV, and a visit from far-away family. The usual PPV Pizza had to be substituted with some wonton soup; I'm sure I'll be ready for pizza by the next time.

Six, maybe Six and a half hours past Ideal Time (out of the shower by 8 AM); considering my condition, that surprisingly uplifting. Anyway, as much as I wanted to really enjoy Anime Expo, I'll have to settle for just enjoy. I was also hoping for more posts from AX, but the aforementioned condition made that difficult. Nothing like severe diarrhea, dehydration, fatigue, and a slight fever among other things to sour an otherwise sweet occasion.

Four hours and forty minutes past ideal time. Well, I'm at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, finished registering for Anime Expo, walked/scouted the path to and from hotel to convention center . . . and I feel like crap. I don't know what kind of bug I have in me (still suspect salmonella), but the digestive problems have now become a fever with respiratory problems, a tender/runny nose in particular. Here's to waking up better tomorrow; photos eventually. Now, to plan the next four days . . .

T-Minus One Day . . . Ghaaa!

Five hours and ten minutes past Ideal time . . . with no shower . . . I am still not feeling well! I now strongly suspect I have salmonella poisoning. All I'll admit is that I have a snack which includes a raw egg every Saturday morning, though it's never made me sick before. The best I can say is that the diarrhea was not as bad today as it was yesterday. Either way, not good conditioning on the eve of my departure for Anime Expo. Looks like I'll be making extensive use of the shuttles, as even walking to the bathroom has become tiring. It should last no more than a week, just in time for the closing ceremonies . . .
