More Delays; oh well . . .

Five hours and forty minutes past Ideal Time . . .

Got up late again, other than catching up with what I couldn't finish last night, not much to talk about.

Oh, it seems my car's catalytic converter has to be replaced, reminding me the original reason I went there was for a smog check . . .

Broke Down Car . . .

Three hours and ten minutes past Ideal Time . . .

Not as bad as it sounds; I actually got up early, but had a lot from last night to clean up.

My car has proven that even Corollas eventually break down. Well, it started as a smog check, but a lot of problems I had been trying to ignore were glaringly revealed. From leaking liquids (power steering fluid hose; turns out to be one of the rare ailments Corollas are prone to), to funny noises (a near-broken axle; to be expected of a fourteen year-old car). Hopefully this will be the limit of the trouble, at least for now.

For the record, my car is a 1995 Toyota Corolla; even with this, still ridiculously reliable.

Rest is good . . .

Four hours and fifty minutes past Ideal Time . . .

I like where things are headed, not just politically and MLB-wise; my body was a wreck this morning but that's to be expected on a week of relatively hard exercise my body is still getting used to; and, of course, my main computer had a hiccup that required a restart. It's also nice that I got some critical errands out of the way; along those lines, it looks like Charlotte will be retuning to the vet after a long absence.

I'd say "aiming for 10," but I'm sure I won't really need it; the critical part is waking up early tomorrow.

Looking Good . . .

Fifty minutes past Ideal Time . . .

I'd say I'm "aiming for 10," but now I'm taking it easy on my way there.

Civilization IV: Colonization, or "Colonization 2,
" was released this week; I might eventually get it. Yes, it's pretty much Colonization, with a few updates, using the Civilization IV engine. One way or the other, more proof Sid Meier is a god of gaming.

Making proper hard boiled eggs, two at a time: in four turns, turn on, turn up, turn down, turn off. Each done at 10 minute intervals, helped by Online Stopwatch:
- Turn on (first ring): turning on to a low flame, after having let eggs soak/assimilate for the first 10 minutes.
- Turn up (second ring): raise the flame a bit higher.
- Turn down (third ring): Actually, add water, so "water down" works better, but ruins the "turn" flow.
- Turn off (fourth ring): eggs are ready! Pull out, let cool, enjoy later.

Aiming for 10 . . . in a Harsh Day . . . II!

Two and a half hours past Ideal Time . . .

On a Brain Age Day, more delays; the money came through for the eBay item I sold yesterday, so I'll have to mail it tomorrow, when I'll have to find time one way or the other. At least I got another good long walk in, one to go!

Well, I seem to have found the reason for my (and a lot of other people's) allergies the last couple of weeks: palm pollen. It seems it's mating season for Southern California's palm trees, and with literally every street in our fine city/county lined with them, it guarantees a sky full of plant sperm. With no credible way to hide from this, short of moving, I'll just stick it out.

On the One Hand; On the Other Hand . . .

Three Hours past Ideal Time . . .

Well, I got to bed a lot later than ideally last night, not helping when I got up this morning; now I have to admit today, along with the last two days have been recovery days for a messy weekend. Still, it looks like tomorrow might be a better day, followed by Friday; pending when I got to bed tonight, where an ideal turn-in looks surprisingly plausible.

Had a direct conversation with Uncle Jose and Aunts Laura and Nela over in Peru. There is a strong possibility I'll be going there next March, and it was good catching up.

Walking the long walk has become downright daily now . . .

Potential, Potential, Potential . . .

Four hours and twenty minutes past Ideal Time . . .

Not as bad as it sounds; I got a lot done I'd been procrastinating on this morning, at the expense of an earlier breakfast, and a good bit of the rest of the day. That should not be a problem tomorrow, depending on how soon I get to bed tonight; I even managed to get a long walk in; of course, I'd sworn to get four of those in this week, so that's one, three to go. As said before, with nothing big scheduled through Friday, and pending no calamities, the next three days should be . . . interesting . . .

Feel the Burn . . .

Five hours and forty minutes past Ideal Time (out of the shower by 8 AM) . . .

More bad dreams, one incredibly bad morning, just for what can at best be described as some form of acid reflux. It felt like my throat was on fire, right down the esophagus, into my nose, and all over my face from the inside. The cold morning aren't helping. Tomorrow will determine if I start adjusting for winter sleeping arrangements (put my heavy jacket on the bed at night, followed by relighting the furnace).

As bad as today was, I am surprisingly confident the rest of the week will be more reminiscent of last week. If so, with no scheduled events, it should get very interesting. Next week, I should be getting even more done, pending no calamities . . . at least not more.

I Can Almost Taste It . . .

One half hour past Ideal Time . . .

I swear, less slowing down from my computer (once I'm done with that big download), an overall smoother morning (especially right after I wake up), and I'll be nailing Ideal Time with ease!

Most of the drama seems to be happening to the other people in my life; since that's their business, that's all I'll say. A lot is ready to get done, but still a pretty boring day for me.

One good week or otherwise, I'll be trying to get back in
to CSUN/Work sometime before September is over; pending nothing throws everything off track, of course.

Busy Day, Messy Day . . .

Two hours and forty-five minutes past Ideal Time . . .

Well, on a day I needed to get up early, I had to deal with a surprisingly late night, a boulder morning, and a few mistakes where I should have known better. I still made the dental appointment, if a bit late; then made the Verdugo Clinic appointment later in the day. Now to see if I can finish this day better than yesterday. Flowing Smoothly . . .

One and a half hours past Ideal Time . . .

A nice recovery from yesterday, even got a shower in, and all perfect flow with how busy tomorrow will be. Not much to say beyond that . . .

Oh, the "Ant War of 2008" has been won, the ants reduced to a nuisance from invaders! Peppermint oil around the hole they used to enter, those bait/traps, and that lucky mass-spraying outside turned out to be enough. I'm now using Elmer's to seal the hole itself; there should be no more trouble for a while; at least until next summer, or heavy rain.

Well, a bit late for breakfast, and ants appeared in another room, but an otherwise quiet morning. My own room seems secure from ant invasion, at least from the hole they used this week.

"ReFlex" for a Reason!

One hour and a half past Ideal Time . . .

The ants returned this morning . . . again; I'm dealing with the problem as best I can. I'd set poison-bait stations around my bedroom, and now I'll try to seal the hole they come out of. Also luckily, the pest control guy came today as scheduled, spraying most of the outside, hopefully further hitting those ants. Finding the next, of course, is a bit beyond my resources at this point, so this will have to do.

Ugh . . .

Four hours and ten minutes past Ideal Time . . .

So, the ants last night, more ants this morning, yet another restart for my computer, and a boulder body made for quite a messy morning . . .

To boot, I had to make a few mail deliveries - with complications of their own -, get my car washed - now that it's going back in the garage-, and top off its gas tank. Yes, "had to," I'm not the kind of person who tends to set obligations back; the deliveries had been payed for (eBay auctions), they had to be delivered. In the end, with this a Brain Age Day, and dinner a bit more important now that a household member is back from her trip, I had to hold off on today's planned walk. I guess I'll be limited to two walks this week. If it goes right, three walks next week, four the week after, then five-and-four-depending-on-obligations the weeks after . . .

Besides being reminded to write to my relatives in Peru, I'm set to plan to go to Peru come March; well, it's better than no plan. It'll likely be my final trip in a while . . .

Cracks, Fixes, and Ants . . .

Two and a half hours past Ideal Time . . .

On a day of a chiropractic appointment, I figured I'd stop by the Best Buy to get my malfunctioning scanner checked out; apparently nothing mechanical, but if I can't find a decent driver, I may just have to get a new one. Looking over, it looks like pure scanners are a thing of the past, and I'd have to get an all-in-1 (scanner/printer/fax/etc.).

Oh, and lo and behold, the combo of heat and drought had led ants to seek Charlotte's food/water tray and invade my room! Hopefully I can deal with this well enough . . .
